Can anyone tell me about the Sony C22 FET?

I've searched and searched which yeilded little to no information. Does anyone know anything about this microphone? Any information would be helpful.

the sony c22.. damn. i don't know anyone with one of them. its a mic from 67-69. i have no idea how that thing sound but its worth a nice penny.
i talked to a guy in boston months back that had 4 of them.. he had every quality mic you could think of. do a yahoo search and see if you can find any studios with c22's.. perhaps you can call them and they can shead some light on the mic for you... or better yet, call vintageking..
 
The Sony C22 FET was a true condenser microphone with a cardiod polar pattern. Interestingly, the high-voltage capsule bias was generated by a 20-Hz oscillator and tiny inverter transformer and rectifier. Its only shortfall, in my opinion, is that the 180-degree axial rejection was better at lows than highs, which made audience applause sound a little "tinny" compared to the program material; but the on-axis frequency and transient response was just outstanding. It doesn't accept phantom power as-is, and takes a now-rare round type 9-volt battery for operation. Nowadays, I'd be about as happy with a Shure SM94, but the Sony was a great mic.
