thanks for the english tip
I will actually be attending the University of Texas on a partial scholarship. The school costs 8,400 a year for out of state tuition. Thank you for the english tip. I am an english major and have completed 2 years at a junior college with a 3.86 GPA. While I am an English Major, there are still many things I need to sharpen my skills on. I do not claim to know everything, and since I do not have anything besides an AA, I obviously have a lot more to learn.
I am so used to microsoft word that it has weakened my writing ability. That and the fact that I did not start college until I was 25. When you take eight years off from school to go on tour, you tend to be a bit limited on when and where you can write.
I type how I talk, but when I write articles and essays for publishing, they are close to perfect. I am guessing you are an angry, disgruntled person who feels like you should have had more credentials than what you have recieved. I am laughing at you for trying to break hard with me on here when I was asking a question about recording gear. I wish that you had the chance to meet me in person. You could probably benefit from meeting someone who has probably been through 10 times more shit than you have. I used to hate on other people for no reason as well. I was failing classes in high school because I did not take the time with them. I ended up getting into a situation and went to jail. I got off with a soft sentence because I had no previous record. I started with music, my band got signed and I continued to be a nuckle head. Everything changed for me the second time I got shot at, which happened to also be the first time I got stabbed with an ice pick. Then I had a revelation. The week prior I had bit a chunk out of a guys throat at one of my shows (I thought I caught his cheek), the guy had hit my drummer's girlfriend in the face. I knew I went to far and I said to the lord, "if you are out there show me something, let me know I am following the wrong path." A week later I was stabbed, shot at, hit with a few bottles, and when I looke down, I had been bitten on my wrist by a pair of fronts. That was enough symbolism for me. The bite is what did it. Two weeks later i sold my car and started over in San Diego, CA. I finally was able to enroll into college with government aid my second year of being here. I got to live my dream of playing college football beginning at age 25. I was converted from a fullback to a D-Tackle and red-shirted, the following offseason I had a meeting with head coach David Jordan of Grossmont College. He convinced me to leave Southwestern after we got our ass kicked 76-34 by them. We were pre-season ranked #1 in the nation for junior college football teams and lost in the playoffs. I sadly fractured my hip about a month before the season started, and though I had made the team, when I came back, I had lost some speed. I gave up football This year, which would have been my final JC season, we won the National Title (Grossmont Griffins if you feel like looking it up).
After I realized my football career was prematurely ended, I started my own company. I am now a booking agent and have worked with some rather large bands in the scene I deal with. As with anything you got to earn your keep, and larger agents of course took bands such as "Through the Eyes of the Dead" from my roster. At the end of the month I will be in Las Vegas with Disturbed and Bloodsimple. I can tell you, changing your views on things will make life easier for you. I may have typed too much here, but I grow tired of people running their mouth. I feel you were being disrespectful, and in the places I have come from and been, you can get yourself hurt with that shit. Take it from someone who has been there and made mistakes.
If I have offended you, in some way by typing below your standards, then I am sorry. I can tell you this much, some of my poetry is being published nationally by Phi-Theta-Kappa's Honor Society in their book of essays and articles.
some examples of quick writing by me, not that it is great, but it is above average:
"I see a crutch underneath the arms of many people that showed promise in their youth. I see and open bottle, and an empty mind that was once filled by the dreams of becoming something better. Substance has replaced the salvation of success in the minds of many of my bretherin. I have seen them come and go, and fall to a path of reliance, weakness, and fear. A massive lie that is emplanted into the mind through news, the media, and our overall surroundings."
what this means:
A government plan was invented to destroy the lives, culture, and lifestyles of Indians when this country was born. It was used against imigrants and minorities. In modern times it has become a plague to all societies that are encompased by the capitalist regime known as the United States. (yes I support socialism, not communism).
some work being published:
“Holy Warrior”
How many times have I killed in my dreams
A world of divide and conquer separated by screams
I’ve stood atop the mounds of broken bodies and torn flesh
Looking inside for peace, yet this soul won’t mesh
Their sounds of sickened torture have propelled my conquest
By crushing their bones to powder, I shall pass his test
Though it may be deemed homicidal in the minds of many
These demons of men have caused sorrows a’ plenty
Freedom of choice, ambition and greed
The sources to nurture the hollow shells they feed
I’ve walked through shadows and slept in darkness
I’ve felt Mephisto’s tug on the soul he hopes to harness
I feel the stillness of each morning as I awaken to the new day
One where the battle continues to hold his temptations at bay
The path of righteousness shall be forever for me and mine
As I cast aside these demons like Jesus to the swine
Again I shall dream, and again I shall kill
Those born into darkness and pile their bodies into hills
Forever faithful, forever in your name
I have committed the ultimate sin
By destroying two towers with planes
also some spoken word as it is coined by my professor:it is better spoken that written because you ahve to be able to roll your tongue to do it. In case you are wondering, no I am not a fan of hip-hop, and prefer anything that is brutal or complex musically, like my guitar playing.
“Segregation” by David Dickens
Race kills race here as we close our eyes
Deaf to the fact that we’re hearing these Earth cries
Don’t you realize that this affects our lives
Destroying our seeds to give to the man’s lies
Rise up and take a stand Erase, the plan implanted by the devil’s hand
And forgive their beliefs
For I’ve lived through the grief long enough to see what you can achieve
When we pull together and believe
We’re trapped through this sin
This hate will not win
We’ve lived this so long we’re asking where it begins
For once in our lives We must prevail
And push back this world of lies that’s destined to fail
