Well, any kind of sampler made in the past 10 years can do what is on the audio snippets I heard. To save money you could get the older akai3000 to 6000 range. The akai OS is easy to use and the newer version come with the MESA software. Sample editing on a computer does not take much power at all. It's sample playback that needs the power. As for modern products, akai still pretty much has the market. The MPC series is where its at. Roland makes some units as well. These are desktop units. Most top tier keyboards offer some srt of sampling capability also. Triton, Fantom, MotifES, Fusion.
It all depends on what your budget is and what you want to do.
It seems like everyone has switched to soft samplers. Ensoniq has dropped out of the game(in name anyway) after EMU/Creative bought them. EMU has their emulator in soft form now.
If you needs are simple, you may even get away with some older Ensoniq and EMU gear.
Start your search at American Musical Supply. I have bought my gear from them for the past 6 years and they are great. (I dont work for them)
And as always, this is my opinion, YMMV.
HTH and good luck,
Prana
