Can a DI Box be Used for Microphone Input?

Is it O.K. to use a Behringer DI-100 active direct box to input my Shure SM57 in to my computer sound card for recording?
Or, are these boxes made specifically for instrument signals?

I'd appreciate any answers, I need to know a.s.a.p.

I have used a Sansamp Bass Driver DI for my 4-track. It is not as good as a true mic preamp but it will work.

I have not done any computer redording as of yet but I don't see why you could not also use it for that. Just adjust your input gain as needed.

Will it damage anything? No
Will it blow a dead goat as far as quality goes? Most definately
