~You're welkom rayc....I had about 25 listens last night rayc, to the mix link in the first post. Now I am listening to the recent link. I am at the 6x listen of the new mix...seems unfair that it should have so few, compared to the first.

It is definately much brighter. The clarity has be improved for sure...the acoustic and flute especially. I think your vox may be just a bit too bright though.

Are you still planning on tracking Cello for the flute background part? The flute really sounds good where it is, in my opinion. Very fitting as the vox backdrop. Just enough volume to enhance the vocals....and it maybe could stand another db in volume.

I can hear the Cello kicking in at 00:19 until 00:36 where the flute comes in. At 1:40 (the solo section) I can hear a Cello solo, moreso than a flute, but towards the outro at 3:05, I can hear the Cello and flute, just crying out to mesh togather for that "leave them wanting more" sound.

All of this is only my opinion..we all want to be arranger/producers don't we? :D

Your voice (or Tony's?)has an excellent tone for storytelling and you/he does it as an art rayc.

I want to go to the Oceanic Cafe. Kudos to you my friend from OZ!!

True :)

Nice tune Ray!!!!! No nits here except that it seems a bit bright on my system.....probably just my gear.

Listening on earbuds tonight Ray which provided more clarity and detail.....much more enjoyable.....The instruments still invoke the same postive feel......

The vocals are really nice on this mix. I'm getting a really nice reverb or something ?? on the verse vocals but they still retain presence. The chorus seems to have a bit of a boost in overall tone and volume....wonder if that effect would carry well though the whole song - it is very nice. Both teatments are equally appealing....

Hi Folks,
Here's a little update.
http://www.soundclick.com/util/getplayer.m3u?id=4538426&q=hi
The flute has been lifted as per True's wishes,
The effect on the chorus has been sparingly added in the verses as per Gerry's suggestion
Monkeymanx -I hunted around for noise & the only such I can find is a result of the motown exciter track which, amongst other things, requires a big boost to the high freq's of the vocal. I'll have to ensure it's not running when the voc should be muted.
jpw23 - I did a mix with some general warmth added from a tiny bit of Sonic Max. & it wasn't too bad. I'll save it for an AB once I have the flute solo & 'cellos nailed. thanks for that.
Having listened back the combination during the chorus of the Motown Exciter & some group chorus running parallel to the main vocal enriches Terry's voice effectively. I'll have to jot that one down.
I know I'm beginning to bore you good folk so I'll hold off any new posts for a new thread when I have the last 2 parts added.
Thanks heaps.

The added flute volume sounds good - increases the effect of it through the song. The treatment on the verses brought them up a tad, the chorus is still very rich. Looking forward to the next mix.....

Listening on the work headphones. Sounds really cool. Don't know about the mid 'coz the first listen was on the home theater and this is on the headphones. Will try to listen on the home theater system.

I would raise the flute a little more. But that wouldn't leave it in the background. That would make it interact with the vox directly. But that would sound much cooler. JMO.

The ending is cool. :)

Sounds really cool. Elizabeth St. See ya there buddy.

Very cool ray. Vocals aren't hard to understand but maybe a tad low to me but this is an area i certainly am no expert on. It seems to come up a little in the chorus. Overall the song is really nice, really enjoyed this alot.

Listening for a second time while typing. I really like the bass lines in the chorus. The The guitars have a real almost sparkle to them that i personaly like. Vocals are real nice, real mellow. Overall I think it sounds great.
Take care

gary
