Calling all SoundFont Lover...

I do notice that with WinXP the SB audigy AudioHQ lets you allocate far more system RAM for soundfonts than with Win98. I can allocate 472M of my 512M. This means you don't have to fiddle with the registry in WinXP. I have also noticed (probably stating the obvious here) that large soundfonts such as Fluid 128M will not work (for me) if you load then up thro AudioHQ/Soundfont, but will work if you load then up as banks 1 or above (ie not GM default font) in Sonar. The point here being that I would use the AudioHQ/Soundfont utility for loading up your default GM BANK 0 soundfont and use Sonar itself for loading up all your other soundfonts in Banks 1 and above. I have saved a minimal soundfont configuration in the normal.cwt file to come up as default.

-I only load soundfonts in AudioHQ if I'm using the Creative Virtual Piano.
...
Elsewise I only load the soundfonts inside Home Studio-- but the RAM limit has to be set in the AudioHQ software (in Win98SE).

Live Synth Pro

In Sonar you don't need a creative card for SoundFonts. Live Synth Pro has been working great for me. I got a huge grand piano font that I use constantly. Add a little bit of PSP's free Piano Verb, and I'm set.

creative/ xp/ sonar problem gone

I just finished installing a memory upgrade to 1 gig from 512meg. I also stopped loading the soundfonts in audiohq but did use it to increase the available ram to 400meg and only loaded the fonts in sonar options. I now do not have any audio stuttering at all. Thanks all for your insight.

Since there's a lot of people with experience with soundfonts here: For one or another reason I can't update my Livesynth to version 1.3 (of course, tech support won't reply my emails). Do I miss something like multiple outputs in Sonar?

Now I've got another question. Everytime I load bank's & files, then go to SONAR 2 XL, close the SONAR, all bank's and files attached dissapear... blank. So everytime I close SONAR, I had to re-map the bank's / files all over again... any clue to avoid this ? Thank's...
I'm just starting out with soundfonts & SB Live! and found this thread. Alot of great info here. I seem to have the same problem as the quote above in HS2004, and I found an article that I think resolves this problem, although I don't really understand it yet. But I thought I would post it in this thread.

Question #1: I cleared the SB standard GS bank and the select bank window shows - "Synth- [empty]", but it still shows 1.75Mb still allocated. It shows the same thing in the config. instrument also.
How come?

Question #2: In config. bank, in the "select bank" window it shows Synth- and underneath that it shows- 1-127 [empty]. What am I suppose to do with the 1-127?

Question #3: Should I just load a good GM bank .sf2 to replace the one I cleared, and then when I work in HS2004 add the .sf2's that I want to use in there, like mentioned earlier in this thread?

Also, with the config bank empty, I played a midi song and still got sound. Why is that, and do I have to change some kind of setting when if/when I load the new .sf2 GM bank in the config bank to get the better sounds?

Sorry for all the questions, but this is driving me a little crazy. But I do see light at the end of this tunnel.

If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks

Anyone use any of the Bass soundfonts on Hammersound that they can recommend? I'm looking for a couple to download for Blues/Rock music.

Also a couple suggestions for drum soundfonts for Blues/Rock would be cool.
I have Gold Drums right now, but would like another one or two.

Thanks
