Hi folks,

Got a wee problem that needs solving folks.....

I've been using the OMNI w/Delta 66 in conjunction with the Line6 POD for guitar recordings for about five months now - and it's working great - no problems......

However, my younger bro down in Florida just bought the OMNI this week (on my recommendations of course :-)....and for some *annoying* reason....he can't seem to get the guitar signal from the POD to work thru the OMNI (ie: lines 1&2 IN)...........His Mp3 and CD's play just fine...but no sound at all from the POD.....

The signal is going into the OMNI ok, coz the green LEDS light up on the front of the breakout box when the guitar is played....but there's no UV levels indicated in the software H/W in 1/2 like there should be.....(as with mine, etc)....

We checked (via ICQ) all the windows audio device properties - nothing wrong there it seems - and his OMNI software *control panel* settings are identical to mine - but still no joy!

He's a MCSE computer guy so there's nothing in thr windows bit he ain't familiar with.....

At first I thought it must be an incorrect setting on the
*patchbay router page* - as I always have mine set to "monitor mixer" option....and everything works just fine....

When I first installed the OMNI a while back I remember having a similar problem - but can't think what I did to fix it :-(

I got a gut feeling it's something to do with the patchbay config......but, nothing seems to work....

GOT any suggestions?????????

"cheers"

KEV

This may seem obvious, but make sure the sliders for his input channels are turned up in the Delta CP. Those sliders don't always appear obvious to me (kinda blend into the rest of the panel), so it's easy to miss them.

Hmm...Then I'm not sure what it could be. Maybe switching from 'Monitor Mixer' in the 'Patchbay/Router' to 'WaveOut 1/2'?

Does a microphone produce the same results, or just the POD?

Hey Looney,

The SAME thing happens with a MIC.....the OMNI (channels 1 or 2) green signal LEDS do light up....but no sound....or UV levels showing in the H/W In 1/2 control panel....

Tried everything now - can't think of anything else....

AS the Mp3/CD's sound is fine....then it must be something to do with the MIC/Instrument signal being routed in the OMNI box thru the monitor mixer....but playing around with the *patchbay router* page doesn't fix it :-(

Nobody out there ever experience this?

Kevzmusic,

Here's something I just experimented with that replicates the problem you're having. Check the back of the Omni I/O to see if the 'To Ins 1/2' switch is depressed (or 'To Ins 3/4' if you use the other two channels).

Those switches work with/as inserts (if you were to throw a compressor/limiter or whatever in the signal chain), and if they are switched 'In' without something to loop the signal back, then you get nothing other than an input signal to Omni, but nothing further (no output).

BTW, I just want to make little correction for you on an acronym you've been using. You have been using 'UV' which stands for 'Ultra Violet', whereas you really mean 'VU' or 'Volume Unit'. :D

Hope my suggestion fixes your problem. :)

Thanks Mate :-)

YOU ain't so Looney after all....

Yep, that remedy worked a treat....for some reason my bro had the line 1&2 insert button pressed IN.....and I never ever even thought to mention that function, etc....

Oh yeah, BTW...the UV was just a typo...I know it should be VU - LOL!!!!

Fanks alot...

KEV

yeah for some reason those "To INS" buttons seem to ship fromt he factory activated... maybe it's so that they don't break off in shipping, but you would think M-Audio would put a sticker of something on them saying "depress these to use the regular inputs"... but that would be 5 cents less that they wouldn't make so that makes NO sense at all I guess
