A good friend of mine, Simon Phillips and his band Protocol will be playing the "Baked Potato" on Dec, 8th. At Lankershim Blvd., across from the Universal Studios entrance. 2 sets. 9:30pm and again at 11:00PM

Tickets are $20.

Show lineup is:

Simon Phillips: drums
Dean Brown: Guitar
Alphonso Johnson: Bass
Jeff Babko: Keys
Everette Harp: horns

Parking can be a bit gnarly, but if you want to see an amazing drummer performing unbelievable fusion, show up and be amazed! Bring money for food and beer and be ready for an outstanding show!

Thanks!

Sorry if this looks like spam, but this guy has done alot for me.

You won't be disappointed!

Phil

I like his work with TOTO - miss Jeff, but think Simon brings a lot to the band. Have you had the chance to meet the guys yet?

In TOTO?

I've met Steve Lukather. He's always at these gigs. He even brings his 16 year old son. I've also met David Paich and Bobby Kimball.

I haven't met any of the other guys who will be playing this gig.

I've known Simon for 11 years.

Yeah, TOTO. That's cool, I've always been a fan a Steve's playing.

Alphonso's a great guy. met him after a Jazz is Dead gig in Richmond many moons ago. He wouldn't remember me, but i remember him as being good folks.

got to catch up with Jimmy Herring that night, too--it had been a while. Also got some double kick technique pointers from Rod Morgenstein that evening as well, which was uber cool. Had to try REALLY hard to keep from asking "so, how bout that kip winger, eh?", though. :P

simon's a great drummer--i'm envious, i'd love to have the chance just to talk a little shop.

you're in for a good evening, mate.

The guy that really loves to talk shop is Dave Weckl. I can't get him to shut up at times. Actually he can't get me to shut up, but always answers all my questions! :D

I think i still have to fix his wireless network at home.

I might be in trouble!
