My name is Mark W. Curran and I am a independant recording artist as well as
the author of several books on music marketing for DIY musicians.

The second printing of my book, "Sell Your Music - How To Profitably Sell
Your Original Recordings Online" is now available through Amazon, Barnes

In preparation for a 3rd edition of "Sell Your Music," I am calling for success
stories from musicians who've found cost-effective methods for selling their
original music online.

This is not spam. Mark's message has been pre-approved by me. He is not pushing you to buy his book, he is calling for success stories for the new edition. Furthermore, he was kind enough to let me reproduce a chapter of his book for everyone to read for free.

how much did that cost him? just in case i write some ridiculous nonsense that no one wants to read, unless they're a totl noob and easily swindled?

He didn't pay me anything. You guys need to really ease up sometimes. If you had a cool project going that could be of benefit/interest to the community and wanted to solicit cooperation from the community, really what is the big deal?

Isn't this what this forum is for? You may not be interested, fine, but others are. Everybody here is doing some kind of a side project, and the idea is to share and solicit feedback and maybe even find some partners. Letting the community know what you are up to is not spam.

If I had a band, and OMG posted a link to our site so potential players can check us out, is that spam? If I mixed a track and posted a link to solicit feedback, thereby OMG diverting traffic to my site, is that spam?

I prefer users 'spamming' this site with their own personal links than posting youtube links, thereby making the rich already richer.

first of all, don't lump me in with any group that hassles you constantly. i can't ever remember being critical of you or audiofanzine. next:

because pimping a product called "Sell Your Music - How To Profitably Sell
Your Original Recordings Online" is a swindle. it's bullshit and you're willingly letting this dude capitalize on what should be a community helping each other.

Isn't this what this forum is for?
absolutely not, and it's sad that i have to explain this to the face of audiofanzine here at HR. A forum is for the sharing of learned experiences and info gathered to like minded individuals. as a long time member who learned much of what i know about recording from the knowledgable people before me, i am happy(that may be a stretch) to (occasionally)share what i know to others. for you, again, the face of AZ to publicly acknowledge that you approve of someone trying to earn a buck off of someone who doesn't know any better is abhorrent.

*cue 60's guy telling me that it's chater-la's forum and she can do what she wants with it.

**cue me telling chater-la that if she doesn't quit pimping garbage i might be forced to start my own...... :laughings:

and don't revert back to that "He is not pushing you to buy his book, he is calling for success stories for the new edition". there are no credible "success stories" here. and i don't consider selling 20 single on itunes to your extended family a success.

i managed to stop working at 40...id call that a success...please contact me for recipe :)

Before I do this, can you tell me if you're going to verify my awesome success story in any way? I mean, I have an amazing story, but I'm not going to submit it if it's subject to even the lightest scrutiny.

Didn't I see you on a late night infomercial recently after the miracle colon cleanse product?

I quit working at 23. I mean....I still have a job, always have, but I actually stopped doing any work at 23. For details of this super secret method, I will require paypal details, the blood of your first born child (unless your first born child is female and over 18, in which case, I will require your first born child), and a night with your wife. In fact, forget about the wife, just give me your daughter. Forget about the secret too.

I managed to become the awesomest guy ever! Even more awesome than EZ.

I'm waiting for my first royalty check though ......... those guys at awesomeguy inc. are really slow with the funding.

not from selling songs online.

no but a success nevertheless
