Calibrate 002 monitor outs w/console..?

I want to integrate a console with my Digi 002 rack. I have everything mapped out so far (patchbay, converters, I/O, ect). The one thing that remains is the monitor outputs on the 002 rack. Essentially, I want to use the jacks to feed the console's control room volume knob & forget about the volume knob on the front of the Digi rack. Maybe it's a long shot but, is there any way to bypass this? Or, should I try calibrating the 002 output volume to the console? If this would be the case, what would be the correct way of doing so? I'm guessing by using pink noise.....unsure from there on. My reasoning is that I want to tuck the 002 in the corner of the room, use it only for I/O, and forget about it. I want to run 18 out to the board for mixing/summing so, I would be using main outs 1&2 as channels. That leaves me with The 2 monitor outputs...... I want to be able to mix ITB as to not disturb the talent while recording so I need to be monitoring from PT monitor out 1&2. I suppose one possibility would be to leave the monitor level knob in one place, but what is the right place? All the way up? can anyone pick up what i'm puttin' down? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

need more info...what console, what monitors do you have? If passive monitors....what amp?

Typically, straight up is unity on most things. I haven't seen any write ups on where it is on the 002. But a good place to start would be to leave the knob pointing straight up.
Then it's just trial and error. I'd then go ahead and put my control room knob/fader on your console at unity and then find unity on your speakers (typically straight up or 3/4 full). Then grab an SPL meter and measure with pink noise at whatever K value you'd like. Bob Katz talks about this in part two of his Level Practices article:

If you leave speaker and console at unity, then hopefully all you have to do is change the 002 knob. I do each speaker individually and set them so it's 79dBSPL in each with K-20. Then mark on the 002 with a pencil where K-20, K-14 and K-12 represents 79dBSPL in each channel.

Send a set of frequency tones recorded @ 0db from your 002 & adjust the input gain pots, the tape ins on my console Soundtracs Topaz Project 8 24 run to hot with the 002 but the old 001 was exactly right for those, I think the 001 has unbalanced outs? Check with the consoles LED & or VU meters

I use a set of tape calibration tones I found online somewhere?

And check the tone levels coming back from the mixer & also on any outboard gear you might have
