I have a new computer with a Thunderbird 1000mhz CPU and a brand new ATA 100 hard drive and controller (integrated on an ASUS A7V motherboard).

I re-installed CWHS9 from my old computer (which worked fine, but was slow).

Here's the problem: After completing a song, I save everything. Sometimes I open the song and find everything is fine, but then when I open the song again, several hours later, every one of my .wav files is gone!! Hours of guitar playing, completely wasted.

FWIW, there's a whole bunch of ".wov" files left behind, which must represent the missing .wav files in some way.

Any ideas? I suspect something is goofy with my hard drive cache, but maybe it's a Cakewalk problem?

Yes, I'm saving as .wrk files.

I may have found the glitch: The software was saving to an old folder in another directory. I read on another thread that CWHS9 is fussy about folder directories. Still, I can't believe that the files were absolutely deleted, yet I can find no trace of them on my hard drive.

I'm also going to be very careful about creating backups. As much as I enjoy recording guitar tracks, I don't relish having to do them all over again.

It seems some tests may be in order to make sure HS is saving your tracks properly. Nothing could be more frustrating then laying down a good take - only to have it disappear.
