Cakewalk HS2004 and Roland XV3080

I purchased an Orchestra expansion card for my XV3080. I followed the instrucitons for install, and everything did as the instructions said. The unit sees the card as I can play samples of the sounds by pressing the volume button.

I cannot play these sounds using my KX88 keyboard or get my Cakewalk software to see these sounds however. Ive read the Roland instruction manual and the cakewalk stuff but cant figure it out.

Any suggestions?

you've got to setup the instrument definitions so that cakewalk knows how to get to those sounds.

i've got my first 8 midi channels of the first port (in sonar) set for the ROM sounds that come with the XV3080, and i've got channels 9-16 set for the orchestra card.

the below instructions are for Sonar, i don't know how HS works
once you've got the instrument definitions installed on your machine, goto Options --> Instruments. Select the port channels on the left, and the instrument definition on the right.

hit the "Driver and Stuff" pulldown once you get into the site.
