I want to use Cakewalk to trigger my drum machine. How do I get my SR-16 drum machine to respond to general midi drum routing. Is it capable? Is there another way to get them to speak the same language? I've got drums responding but the wrong ones. Do I need to buy a newer sound module.
Thanks in advance

Yo Tim:

I used to use an SR-16.

If I recall, check your manual and it will instruct you how to mind your midi.

I do believe there is a midi in/out on the SR16.

Maybe I'm wrong but I think so.

Green Hornet:D ;) :p

Hi Tim,

When you say you "have drums responding"....are they
the SR-16 sounds, or are they from your sound cards
synths?

I waited to see if anybody else followed on this thread to see how it should be done if you want to use the drum sounds from your sound card synths(soundfonts) instead of the sounds from the SR-16.

Soundfonts on Soundblaster cards are handled by recording software that supports soundfont files. Cakewalk and Voyetra's Digital Orchestrator Pro are two that come to mind. Each has it's own way of making the soundfont play back instead of a midi instrument. With Cakewalk 9 you have to change your midi port to a soundfont device then change your midi channel to channel
ten to play back drum sounds.
