Hi All,

I've recentely changed from Cubase to Cakewalk and I have a question. I use a Roland JV-1010 module, and when it comes to program changes in Cakewalk, I choose Bank Select 'none'(because I need both controller 0 and 32) at track properities and in the event List I insert controller 00, 32and a Program change.

This is a quite difficult way to transmit my program changes, because when I want to send the program change Cakewalk automatically gives me a list with names that doesn't corresponde with the requested bank sounds, but when I count, I still get the right sound, under a wrong name.

Is there any way to transmit my program changes more easily

thx for Help

Brett

Sorry to bother you again, but the .ins file doesn't seem to work. What am I doing wrong?

Understanding how to import ins files

BrettB,

Steps to import instrument definition.

1.Download jv1010 ins file to a floppy (A:\)
2.Click on "Tool" menu choose "instruments"
3.Click on "define"
4.Click on "import"
5.Locate Drive (a:\) with your jv1010 file
*Make sure that you include drums definition sometimes it's separate from the other instruments.
6.Click on file and choose OK
7.Click on the file name in this new pop-up menu choose ok or import (what ever is available to confirm choice.)

If drum definition is listed separatly repeat steps from #4.

8.Go to the 1st page of instrument definitions. That is where you see midi ports listed on the left and the instruments on the right of the screen.

9.Highlight your midi ports 1-16 (depends on your setup) on the left of your screen.
10.Click on "jv1010" on the right of your screen
11.Click "OK"
12.Go to "track view"
13.Set "port" # (ex. 1)
14.Set "channel" # (ex. 1)
15.Set "bank" # by double clicking in that field until you know what the #'s are. Click on drop down arrow and you will see a listing of banks.
16.Set "Patch" # by typing 1-? or double clicking in field and clicking on the drop down arrow.

*Any of these fields can be incremented or decremented by clicking on the + or - keys.

If I have made any mistakes please forgive me I am not looking at cakewalk. Hope this helps.
