Has anyone used Cakewalk with Gigastudio 32 AND MTC sync through the MIDI port to a Digital Multitracker?

I am assuming the Gigastudio hogs the one MIDI port in the soundcard. I have two soundcards in my computer.

Can I run 1 soundcard for Gigastudio and the other soundcard for the MIDI MTC sync to the Multi-tracker?

Has anyone done this?

Thanx in advance for any help.

First off,any time you run two cards, you may be looking for trouble.Especially when it comes to synchronisation issues.
What soundcards are you using?
What multi tracker?
What version Cakewalk?
Cakewalk will sync to all kinds of stuff. If you are using Giga and Cakewalk you only need one midi connection.

I am using Pro Audio 9.

I have Gigastudio 32 installed and want to run Cakewalk's MIDI drum tracks to trigger actual real acoustic drum samples.
The samples have to be recorded to a Fostex D2424LV while syncing to the Cakewalk MIDI file via MTC timecode (also using the MIDI port).

I think that gigastudio hogs the MIDI port of my Terratec 24/96 msatering card and will not allow the MTC time code to exit the MIDI port to the Fostex.

I have a Sant Cruz soundcard installed, but disabled at the moment.

What I don't know is if I can use two souncards for their MIDI ports only. 1 for the gigastudio, and 1 for the MTC timecode.

An interseting problem, for sure. Just not sure if someone else has experience with this problem.

1 for the gigastudio, and 1 for the MTC timecode.
You don't need a midi port for the Giga studio.

Open Giga.
Open PA9 from within Gigastudio.
Set the output of your midi track to Giga.

Check your Fostex manual for the proper sync settings.

I don't remember PA9 exactly, but you need to go to something like options/project/midi out+sync.Check the proper boxes.

IMPORTANT!
options/midi devices

Make sure this is set properly.

I had Giga LE an Giga 32,both work with Cakewalk, just not as well as a DXI or VST that work within Cakewalk.
I got Kompakt and left Giga behind.Of course PA9 supports neither DXI's or VST's.:(

GOOD LUCK!
