I'm hoping this is the right place to post this. If it is not could someone point me to the correct place? anyway my question is, is this pack worth buying? I've read tons of reviews but I figured I'd get a pros view of it. I know the price is cheap but has anybody tried them? And are they worth buying if I'm starting out ?

Hey sk ....You get what you pay for.
People use them and get good results. Other people who own them just have them lying about collecting dust for they have moved on to better.

Do you need 7 microphones? Shure sells a set of 3 SM57 and a Beta 52a Just add a few over heads. Or get the Shure PG series and they come with over heads for about the same price.

I thought greg used the CAD-7 kit.

If that is the mic kit he uses, your best bet would be to get those mics and beg greg to help/teach you how to get a good sound using those mics. Reason being, once you've gained enough skill to get a good sound out of entry level gear then you would be able to get something magical out of pro level gear.

thanks for the feedback guys. So yes, I actually do need 7 mics.... and who is greg?

Hey, I think I can help you out! I've got the exact pack you're talking about :D

First off, most of the mics are solid. I can't comment on the snare mic because I use a 57 instead, buuut I can say that the kick mic is the weakest point of the package, and I'd replace it with something else if you can (however, the kick mic does make a nice tom mic lol). The overheads are nice, and IMO the best part of the package.

The pack performs good in the studio but I find that it's at its best when used during live performances!

If you're wanting good results for the money, I'd get these. However, if you want good results with good money, I'd save up for maybe the shure package or something! Either way, it's a good deal. Definitely worth buying if you're just starting out!

Hope that helps :D (HOWEVER, I don't think I exactly qualify as a "Pro's View" lol :))

Use 12'00 words where 40 will do.

I'm hoping this is the right place........If it is not could someone point me to the correct place?.........I figured I'd get a pros view of it......
I was going to quip that you're in the wrong room, there's no pros here....

BUT THEN
I remembered that there are some pros here. But more importantly than that, there are the opinions of people who actively use stuff, have good, indifferent or lame experiences of various gear....and actually, even more important than that, there are people here that are not everyday 'professionals' but in my opinion, write songs, make music and create recordings that stand up to {and personal taste and choice being what it is} much that's out there in Proland. So actually, though 'critics opine' and 'everyone's a critic', those opinions are valuable.

when i logged back on to this site today i was wondering why my post is back up lol....
