I was thinking of getting one of these for vocals. I know it's a very transparent mic, but I'm going to be using it with a Joe Meek 3Q which imparts a color of its own, so am I right in thinking these two may be a good match.

Other mics I'm considering are MXL 177 tube, Samson C01 (anyone who says they've done A/B tests with this mic says it kills), MXL 67, maybe a Projects C1 (although I've used one, and actually found the tope end plasticky, not silky).

Can anyone answer my question or perhaps post experiences with E100/2?

I have a baritone/tenor voice, not quite one, not quite the other.

Personally I'd skip the E100/2 for vocals and head straight to a CAD M179 or an ADK Hamburg in that price range. The E100/2 is decent on acoustic type of stuff but I think you will find it a tad sibilant for a "go to" vocal mic.

I've only had experience with the previous E-100. My personal favorite kick drum mic and a good performer on various instruments. Definitely not the first mic I'd use for a vocalist.
