If you record a guitar with two different microphones, send them to separate channels on a dual mic preamp... should you then send them through mono or stereo cables to a compressor? Then should the lines from the compressor to the soundcard also be mono or stereo?

I thought mono but I'm not sure.

Buying cables is really a pain in the arse. I'm looking for certain models and it's suprisingly difficult to locate them, even on big online stores such as Amazon and Sweetwater. Sweetwater has a lousy search engine... you have to go through all the models to find the one you want.

Also, are speak-on speaker cables 1/4'' to xlr male or female? I would guess male but it doesn't specify.

to keep em truely seperate- do mono- then in your recording software put em on seperate tracks- afford you the most control

awesome thanks :)

In my searching I came across this site which has a great selection but low inventory. I couldn't get more than 1 of some that I tried. I don't know if it was just an error or if they truly can't supply more than 1 per person at the moment for those particular cables. If you try to enter more than 1 and then update it puts it back to 1. Doh!

Uh, no, err . . . what?

Speakon cables are designed for high end PA applications, to carry the output of two power amps on one cable. They can be adapted to 1/4", with the right adapter, but dear God why would you want to adapt one to XLR?! Don't tell me you have some old Carvin speakers with the XLR speaker inputs on them do you?

Whatever you do, don't hook the output of your power amp up to one of the mic inputs on your mixer or you'll blow it up.

Okay okay, sorry maybe I missed the point of your question
wait , what is the point of your question? Maybe I did answer it?
