What type of cable do I need running from the out of my mic pres to my Apogee Duet..

1/4 instrument or 1/4 patch?

Also, coming out of my POD HD500 to my Duet or micpre (I know I don't need the pre with the HD500, but I'll try it at times for some added flavors..)

Simple questions, and I'm hoping they have simple answers. If the answers are either, give me reasons why one might be better than another....??

From the pre to the Apogee...I would think 1/4" TRS or XLR...you want to keep things balanced. A basic 1/4" TS is unbalanced.

From the Pod...probably 1/4" TS...though that Pod has numerous I/O options...so you could probably also do balanced output...read the manual.

the 1/4" outs on the POD are forsure unbalanced so 1/4" TS is the way to go. Looks like the Duet is unbalanced 1/4" so TRS wont be of any advantage in any case. Keep in mind you can go direct in with USB from your POD. You'll skip some D/A A/D conversion.
