Halo..

I have a post in the design forum on making my soundproof room and have not gotten that straightened out yet as far as plans go, but I am curious how all the cables are run from the studio area to the control room while maintainin soundproofing? My assumtion is making either a patch panel that has sealant around it, or go through the floor. But I am asking of course because I don't know what the hell I am talking about :).

Also, do people use space heaters in their studios or actual house heaters through ducts and such like central ac. I have oil heat which is why I am asking, and the baseboards get loud.

Thanks,
Jim

I was wondering this myself. I look forward to the professional answer!

In general what you want to avoidare back-to-back outlet boxes (of any kind, including electrical outlets, light switches, etc

Obiously you want to caulk all penetrations of any surface, but since cable distance is not that large of a concern you can get creative with the cables taking an indirect path that the sound will find hard to follow, Why not base your decision on what would make a convenient setup in the recording room, one with fewer wires on the floor to trip over. That might suggest placing the connectors at the wall away from the door or a ceiling drop.

i saw a studio using a cable snake. is it ok to do this??
