Topshelf, the mic pre on the MQ3 is a bit better than the VC3Q.
The VC3Q mic pre works just fine on a large diaphram condenser
like the C1. You should be quite happy with the MQ3 should you
choose to get one. It's small size is also handy for providing
phantom power if you play live, or are using a laptop computer,
etc. You can do a lot with this unit!

P.S. You may also want to check out the B series from Studio
Projects (street price $80), if you get curious about the
Marshall V67 compared to the C1.
