I know I'm gonna have to slap my forehead when I get the answers, but what does C-R and ST stand for with regards to a mixer output.

Edit: Can we add "2TR" to the list as well?

CR = Control Room
ST = Stereo
2TR = 2 track

In my defense, I assumed correctly on ST and 2TR, but couldn't come up with a guess for C-R.

If you're talking about a small Mackie (or Behringer knockoff), I think Harvey is correct, the ST does mean "Studio", as in going to an amplifier for headphone or foldback monitoring for the musicians.

I guess i have just never seen studio outputs labeled anything but studio. Makes sense though. Typically though, st probably stands for stereo.

In the analog mixer world, I don't think I have ever seen Stereo labeled ST. On every mixer I have ever seen, ST = Studio output.

Well, maybe I am wrong then. All of my mixers are larger and nicer so everything comes completely labeled.

Larger and nicer than what? I haven't noticed any specific mixers even mentioned here. :D

Well, if the "C-R", "ST", and "2TR" are all switches under the "Output" section, they're all "Stereo" outputs - and go to the "Control Room", "Studio", and a "2 Track Recorder" respectively.

Just in general... with larger nicer consoles you get more features and they are typically labeled...

There was a little Mackie mentioned earlier though;)

My 32 channel Yamaha labels the stereo main output master fader as "ST"... but hey, its Yamaha - they aren't nice enough boards to use big words like "stereo" :)

Wow, I've been gone for a few days - can't believe there was more discussion on this! Anyway, for the record, these labels are on a little 10 or 12 track Yamaha MG mixer. And, as Harvey suggested, they are all stereo outputs, so "ST=Studio" makes a bit more sense. I was surprised that the manual didn't ever say what they mean. Anyway, thanks, guys.
