I just got my new C4's, and the capsules aren't marked. The manual shows the capsules with the holes in the side marked as cardioid and the ones with no holes marked as omni. I'm assuming that's right, but I'm uneducated enough to think it would be the other way around. I haven't got impressions yet, except that I am unimpressed by the shock mounts. They don't hold the mics securely in a vertical position, and they don't place the mics in a proper X-Y configuration on a stereo mic mount, and no mic clips are included.
Fortunately, I have Sabrasom shock mounts which work just fine, and for vertical positioning, an AKG H100 shock mount seems to work just fine. How about some mic clips?-Richie

The unit with the ports is the cardioid capsule - that's how they make it a cardioid - by letting in a little bit of the sound into the back of the diaphragm.

The cardioid capsule is the one that has the Holes. The other Omni does not have the holes.

I hope the manual stated which ones are which, If Not im sure we will make sure they stress which ones are which.

Richard,
We are currently aware of a problem with the C4s shockmount, they are being remade and everyone who has purchased a C4 will be sent a new set of the shockmounts. The C4s are meant to be held securely by the mounts and this will be resovled when we get the new mounts which we expect with in the next week. As for the capsules, yes your correct the caps with the holes are the cardioids and the ones without holes are omni. I belive its says something to that effect in the manual. A resolve might be for the mean time, rubber bands on the C4s while in the mounts tend to work, especially the wide ones, also feel free to pull out a Sharpie and put a little circle on your omni caps. But be sure to email me your mailling address so I can get out the new mounts to you when the come in. justin@pmiaudio.com
