bypass inserts by going inline?

hmm.. i was wondering this. could you run straight from your multitrack through the compressor then to the line in to use a compressor gate etc... this would save me time by letting me solder just normal balanced cables instead of annoying insert cables.

there is always the bypass switch to check the uncompressed signal.

Works well enough...

I have my patchbays configured to do that very thing kristian.

If I NEED a post eq/fader insert, I use the inserts on subgroups on the console to do so. But, you could just as easily hook up another patch bay for the channel inserts too.

sonusman basically answered it. between my signal coming from me reel to reel into my mixer its easier to put the compressor, gate, thingymabob in there.
