Bypass converters in M-Audio Octane?

Hi,

I'm considering the M-Audio Octane as a preamp stage before my RME Multiface.
I'm a little unclear about how the analog outs work. If I run mic/line inputs into the Octane and use the analog outs into the Multiface (not using the ADAT outs), will the Octane's converters be bypassed? I'd rather just use the preamp as a preamp - I'm pretty sure the Multiface's converters are higher quality.

Is this how it works, or is everything that passes through the Octane converted through the AD-DAs onboard?

Thanks,

Brilliant. Short, concise, and exactly the answer I wanted.

Thanks,
You're welcome.

I love my Octane. I use it as the pre for my drumset. I've also used the M/S matrix to record acoustic guitar and have been very pleased with the results.
