BX5's Vs. BX5a's

Has anyone heard both of these monitors? is there really much difference? I just got the bx5a's, but i never heard the original bx5's. Theyre great, but i wonder if they are really that much better. Also, i wonder if they have better bass, since everyone has always said you reall need sub with the original bx5's, but the new one seems to have enough bass for most purposes.

i have the bx5s and it takes a while to get used to not hearing overhyped bass compared to home stereo speakers, hell most of the time you can't even hear the frequencies below 80 or so.
