hey i just got my maudio bx5 and i have no clue what to put the settings on the back, im mixing down vocals for rap music....

if anyone could help me out thatd be great..

the settings and options are

acoustic space
0, -1, or -2

high freq
-2, 0, +2

mid boost
in or out

low cutoff
56, 80, or 100

im not asking for the exact settings just an idea of what might sound good...\

thanx

it's not about sounding 'good'. that ruins the whole purpose of having monitors. it's about sounding 'right' and adapting to the room or environment for accurate translation audio. in your case, i would leave the settings as it is.

i bought them used... do you know what the settings would be?

i have mine set like so......and it sounds pretty neutral/even.

acoustic space 0 ( if you have your monitors away from a wall, free standing, use this setting)

high freq 0 (neutral)

mid boost -out ( no mid boost)

low cut off- 56 (this give the most bass responce)

the various settings allow you to adjust speaker response according to placement and some room characteristics.

for example, if your speakers are up against a wall, the bass may be exaggerated, which means you could end up mixing it too low.

the settings that studiomaster and bryank suggest are a reasonable way of starting off.

check this by playing quality recorded material as a reference, and adjust to get it sounding 'good', which, all else being equal, will also be 'right'.
