Buzzing TX81Z

Greetings,

My father is letting me have/use his old TX81Z MIDI synth. Just recently (near the back of the case) it's started buzzing rather softly then rather loudly. I know it's 18 years old but does anyone know if this is normal for it? or maybe I just need to buy a newer synth?
 
I have one that's a little noisy too, and always has been...

One way to tell if the battery needs changing is if you can change one of the user presets, power the unit down and have the change still be there when it's powered up again. You can even just change the name -- if the battery needs to be changed, Yamaha was nice enough to provide no option but to take it in to one of their service centers --- and you can tell them about the buzz @ the same time!
