Buzzing noise and recording problems with mic

ok, I'm trying to record rap vocals and i've been making some beats.. a few months ago i got an Apex-440 mic (it's a USB condenser mic) and i've been trying to record in Audacity, though I can't hear my vocals on the recording, and all i'm hearing is an electrical sounding buzzing coming from my speakers. I've tried setting it up, selecting it on the control panel, selecting the speakers and selecting the mic in "Audacity preferences" but I'm not getting anywhere. The mic has 2 switches on: one which is a high-pass filter, and another with "-10db" and "0" next to it..
This is the first microphone i've bought so i'm kind of a begginner with it.... any help is warmly welcome! :)

it is very likely to be a ground loop problem, so be careful! potentially very dangerous.

have you tried using another USB lead? if that doesn't work, it's definitely the mic. Maybe it's audacity? check that the inputs are all set up correctly.
