buying the right stuff

i'm saving up money to get more serious in my production, and i'm still trying to decide if i should get more into hardware or software.

if i get into software, i'm thinking of getting a new computer (over 2GHZ, if i can) with a crazy sound card, so I can run reason and cubase at the same time with rewire and then record real instruments (bass, guitar, keyboards) while the song plays simultaneously. It's just gonna sound more realistic, and that way I will be able to improvise while the song plays. Btw, is playing real instruments on a track widely used by top producers? and do they use software also? can I come close to hardware with software?

Oh yeah, do a search on the BBS for hardware vs. software, or some shit like that. There's piles of that shit already posted addressing your questions. Fish a little, you might get lucky.
