buying monitors

Im in the pricerange about a pair of krk rp8.
Its really difficult getting good guidens from my local store, im pretty he just wants to sell me whatever costs the most.

So, i know this post will most likely end up in a lot of suggestions, maybe even some brand war and behringer dizzing - but im gonna try anyway.

In this pricerange, what monitors would you suggest. I genereally make late 80s inspired noise rock (spacemen3 and telescopes) and drum´n´bass. Both genres depend very much on deep bass.

Open for suggestions, probably buying them at these danish stores, so it would be nice if they had the monitors you would suggest:

Here´s some thoughts of mine: Right now im seriously considering krk v6 mkII.
I have 2 concrete questions:

1. Since drum´n´bass is very much sub-bass orientated - what i mean is, the bass is often so deep i just rumbles in your body. Will the bottom frequency of the v6 (55hz) be a problem. i heard i should avoid subwoofer when mixing. - Besides subwoofer would break my budget.

2. Would you say i could get better quality for the same money in some brand thats produced in the east instead of america.

Is'nt everything produced in the "east" nowadays? Hell, most the stuff with a "made in the u.s.a." sticker on it is a big fat lie.

You know what your budget is. How many pairs are you considering that are within your budget? You don't trust your local sales guy so that sounds like it's out. Can you trust us? We're mostly a bunch of home recording guys/gals that have owned 0 to maybe 2 or 3 pairs of budget priced monitors that someone else recommended to us. There's a few pro's around here that will suggest lots of things above your budget. Oh, and I'm pretty sure there are more than a few company guys pushin goods here that will have some suggestions for ya. The way I see it, you might as well play any, many, myne, moe and be done with it. The sooner you do, the sooner you can start worrying about that next piece of gear.

Seriously, I don't mean to be a smartass but you won't be able to pick the best monitors that you could get for your money without spending alot of time listening to everything that you're considering. That's pretty much impossible unless you buy them all and only keep the best pair. It's either that or any, many, miney, moe.
