I want to buy a PA this month.

What I'm looking at so far:

(2) 2,000+ watt power amps

(2) 3-way, full-range monitors with large mid-range cones that can handle the power from the amps with ease.

3-way crossover with a subwoofer out

powered subwoofer, or passive sub and another power amp

At some point in the future I'd also like to get some nice 3-way full range floor monitors (if they even exist) and an additional power amp.

I already Have a mixer and Mics. I would appreciate any user reviews or comments on any brands, models, websites, etc...

I'm trying to get a really powerful great sounding system that covers a very broad frequency range, and I'm trying to go about it the right way.

Thanks!

I'm no expert on PA's, but I've never had any problems with my Peavey PA. I also hear JBL do nice PA speakers. Best to listen to anything your going to get before you buy it really.

Hope its helped, Neil

I personally use JBL eon and yamaha 15" speakers (2 of each). The Eons are active and the Yamahas aren't. I am not a real big fan of the Eons except for one thing, they're extremely light. The yamahas are big and heavy, but are efficient and sound nice. My friends use Peavey speakers, and those seem fine to me. As for amps, stick to name brands and you should be fine (stay away from pyramid)

My budget is negotiable. It's really just pending on the brand, quality, size, power...

:) I like the Crown amps, CE 2000 or CE 4000 for your amp requirements, excellent warranty!!
I've had major problems with QSC amps cutting out at times/loose internal ribbons/conectors.
Another trouble free amp is Crest/ very expensive/ very road worthy.

Price range? Size and shape of space?

If you want the best, you want Meyers. The UPA-1Ps are amazing, if you don't need to project very far. If the distance is longer, the UPA-2Ps are like lasers, but thier spread is much narrower. These are powered monitors, so you will not need any processing or power amps.

If you want more information, I need more information.

2000 watt+ is this brided, at what load, rms or peak? are they stereo (2 channel amps) if so why do u need to of them? and what kind of sub

Instead of telling us what you're looking at, you should tell us what you need.

You can build a HUGE sound system yourself for not too much $ if you're decent at woodworking/building and are willing to find some literature on the project.

I don't know exactly what I would get if I were building a new sound system, but it'd probably be something along the lines of:

4-way Electronic Crossover

A 200 watt RMS amp powering two compression drivers with huge horns (2 feet wide)

A stereo 2x1000watt+ amp powering four cabs, two with 8" and/or 10" drivers, and the other two with 12s. These will cover mids and lows. (this is cheaper than getting two 1000 watt amps)

A 4000 watt power amp running two cabs, each with dual 18" drivers as subs, with the crossover set at 100-150hz.

That would be loud.
