im talking about the new tiger 10.4. digidesign says there is currently no version of pro tools LE 6.9 or anything earlier that works with 10.4 however they should have an update ready at the end of june/early july. does anyone if i'm going to need to buy anything to even be eligible for the upgrade? i feel like i have to pay something like 70 bucks to even move up to 6.7...

back to the pc for now...

I don't think you should pay anything for the update, obviously they won't keep you as a customer by charging you for an update that should be free.

also, many companies are still developing drivers for Tiger. They should all be out this summer or by the fall. I probably won't switch over to Tiger until I see the 2nd or 3rd update from Apple

Apple makes it's own DAW software and it's own operating system so now that OSX has hit 64bit, you can bet Logic will be the first to adapt. They also have a new option within Logic that G5 processors can be linked together via ethernet and employ the power to the machine running the DAW. So aside from the 8G of ram you stuff in there you can create a workstation with more power than ever possible. In the future you're extra G5's could be a stack of mac mini's, (just a little forward thinking...)
I'm upgrading from a G4 as soon as possible, and yes I use a PC also... mainly just to update the antivirus registry for my girlfriend. Sorry that was low, haha.
Buy what you want, look at the options. Don't by a Mac to play games, they sell machines for that at walmart.
