I am very close to getting my new computer. It will be comming from a friend of mines brother. Me and my friend will be building it. We have it within my budget right now. It will have 2 40gb harddrives, 128mg ram, and a 900mhz AMD processor. The motherboard and soundcard are very good and were picked by my friends brother. Here is the question. Would it be better to not get one of the 40gb harddrives and get 256mg ram instead and a 1.3 or 1.4mhz processor. Thanks Matt

I'd say yes, cause it's easy to add a hard drive later if you need more space, and in my opinion 256MB of RAM is a must.

Just make sure your motherboard supports a 1.4Mhz cpu

For sure!!

40 gigs is plenty, you will surely finish a project and archive it before you run out of space.

CPU power is handy when you start to apply those plugins.

Also with AMD i found my system was more stable with ACPI disabled,to do this just type - X:>setup /pi - before you boot windows (im not sure a bout XP though)

Good luck!
