sup...I'm thinking about the rnc compressor. I've heard it's ranked one of the best for under a grand. Is it better to get a software compressor or external, I've heard external, but am not sure? I'm going to be doing basically all my work in software (Reason to be more precise and I've heard it's compressor is booty)...anyways I'd like to hear what yo'll got to say...
I'm looking for something affordable that will give me excellent results. if you don't have any advice lemme just have your approval of this compressor if you approve...thanks!

I’m getting one soon, too, and the consensus around here falls between the RNC and Behringer Composer Pro. Look around other threads from today-you’ll find one with good information on the two.

you can use a software compressor, and some are quite good for little fix-ups...but some things (vocals especially) do really well when you get it to tape (or hard drive) with an outboard compressor...will help you get a nice hot signal without clipping.....i also use compression going in on guitar and bass as I tend to play very uneven, which is what a compressor is designed to help you with....

Yeah.

Also, adding compression before A/D conversion increases the number of bits used for the digital signal. Hence, higher resolution and a better sample.
