burning cdr's

I'm recording a demo for a friend of mine, but when i try to burn it to disk,i get a weird surging sound in the recording, almost like a delay.
no matter how quite or loud I record it into my computer..

?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

More details please

1) Are you using an internal or external (standalone) burner?
2) Is the weird sound there after you record to PC, but before you write to CDR? Or does it just show up on the CD?
3) What kind of sound card are you using, and what is the source going into it?
4) And what software are you using to record?
