Burning A Cd

Ok I need help.....

I'm using CEP as a mastering program.

I record 2 tracks from an analogue source in order to burn to cd.

Recently, I recorded at 24/48000 on my Audiophile 24/96.

Mix down to 16 bit wave, then through my mini net work I copy
the wave file to the CPU with the burner & make a CD.

Now I take my CD and check it on my decent hifi system.

Here at the end of the process do I hear a problem.

The cd is clear, no skipping, sounds fair, but no way near the same
quality as the original source.

A bit harsh sounding, lack of depth and warmth.

Kind of like if someone recorded a band in a basement on a portable
cassette deck, but not quite that bad.

Any Suggestions ?

Love,
Sean

What are you monitoring it through (speakers) when you are editing it?

Chances are the levels are too low. Did you have to crank up the volume a lot more than on usual CD's?
