Ok...i finally got the burning part down...thanks to several people on here. But i have a new question. I recorded 15 songs on a CD (totaling 77 min) but when i play the CD in my stereos they only recognize 12 of the 15 songs?

Is it because i went over 74 min? I bought CD-R's that are 80 minutes.

Any thoughts?

Most CD players will not play those "specialized" CD-Rs that go over the standard limit. I'd stick with the normal 74 minutes ones if I were you.

Ok...i'll get 74 min ones from now on...thanks 4 the suggestion. Kinda sucks though. So then what's the purpose of the 80 min CD's?

Data backup, playing compilation CD's on your computer (your drive will probably recognize these), or on the newest generations of stereos, which MIGHT recognize them if you get lucky. IMHO, 80min CD-R's are crap. Besides the incompatibility and extra expense (for six min??!!), There are much more unstable and prone to error than 74's.

Oh ok...i was thinking they might be used more for data backup. And if stability is an issue...then i wont buy anymore 80 min ones. I only got a few...and they were on sale...blah blah blah...=). I just wanted to get a few CD-R's first to make sure the recording would work.

Thanks Spoon.

I have had the same problem but it was because I didnt
burn all the tunes in one session, this was with adaptec
easy cd creator. Never did find out why? Asked here never got a answer, I had left the sessions open so I could burn more later and then when I did my cd players
would only play the first session allthough I could see on
the cd I had the rest of the material?

Audio CD's follow the Red Book standard. The Red Book standard does not allow for multi-session CD's. You need to burn Audio CD's using the disc-at-once method.
