bulk picks?

this thread about expensive picks made me think to ask a question. www.musicyo.com used to have bulk picks that really weren't that bad for the very very cheap price, but sadly they don't anymore. does anyone buy bulk picks (that aren't weird shapes) anywhere else? if so where?
 
I'd like to know as well. I've only been able to find my favorite picks (Dunlop Ultex) in 6-packs. I'd like to buy 20 or more at a time.
 
why spend 5 bucks at a time..

Speaking of picks, I use, always used, and probably always will use Yellow Tortex picks

But I wonder, are there better picks? should I try them? I'm the same with strings, D'Addario XL 9's just feel right, and I never try anything else.

Once in a while I think should I try something else? then I hit the store and like a moth to a flame and pick up the same stuff

Just go to the store and pick up one of each pick. Having a variety around will give you some options. The yellow tortex picks are a decent all-around, but try some others. Some of my faves are the Ultex and the Big Stubby's.
 
I guess I'm weird. I like thinner picks. I always use the red Tortex. I keep forgetting the actual thickness, but I can't play with stiff picks. When I was primarally a bass player, I STILL used the thin picks. When I moved to guitar I used the same ones.
 
thx for the links....but 72 for 20.00 is still .28 a pick which really isn't that cheap (especially 'cause i'm assuming they charge shipping), i'm looking for closer to .10 - .15 a pick (this was what i got on www.musicyo.com when they used to have it, but they don't anymore)....you know what else i was wondering is where do small guitar stores buy the huge amount of picks that they get their own name printed on and then sell for .25 a piece? i'd be all over that, but i'm assuming you have to own a store...thx for the help!
 
Tortex purple or blue. That's all I'll use...ever!
www.musiciansfriend.com $3.99 per dozen on all picks except ultex-$2.99 for 6. Not cheap but convenient when you add a dozen to whatever else you're ordering.
 
I recently got a 72 pack of Dunlop .60 Regular picks for about 12 bucks with shipping. (Ebay) :cool:
 
i use Tortex orange or yellow. i got a handful of em for free, hehe.
 
Most stores can custom order picks easily enough. I've done so many times for customers. Heck, I order my own picks in bulk, for that matter.
