This is an extension of another post I made in the newbies section. The idea here is to get various points of view and opinions of how to go about building a decent, not necissarily "cutting edge" digital home recording studio. Given the many different approaches to this end possible, I thought I'd set up some guidelines and goals. This studio would have to be able to handle live sessions meaning there would be multiple analog inputs. This studio would also have to lend itself to non-destructive editing. Cutting and pasting would be a definate must. Cost is a major factor too, but quality is more important than cost, meaning I'd rather pay a few bucks more to get the results I want. The general goal is to incorporate a 32 channel mixer, and use my PC as a recording medium, although ADAT or dedicated HDR's may figure into the picture too. Let's start with the sound source and go from there. Getting midi in and out of a system is much easier so I'd like to concentrate on A/D-D/A conversion, how to route it, what systems work well, PC requirements and the like. Let's hear what you have to say and remember, we're spending MY money here, so go crazy!!!!
