Does anyone know where I can find any resources on building my own 4X12? I would like to find actual dimensions of a Marshall cabinet, including maybe an exploded view, maybe a wiring diagram, etc.
I was going to do a slant cab, but now I am thinking maybe a straight cab would be simpler for the first try.

Any help is appreciated...

Just my .02-

If you can't find out online, maybe you are lucky enought to know someone who will let you take all the measurements you need from a cab they own.

Pay attention to the baffleboard- this is the piece the speakers are mounted to. Most cabs are put together with screws and glue- except the baffle board. Though it is in there tight, in a lot of cabs it is not glued - something to do with mechanical coupling and resonance. I don't really understand it, but it seems to be standard practice.

Use good plywood- not MDF(fiberboard). If you use that stuff you will be disappointed. I know a couple of cab makers around here and they recommend marine plywood. It is fungus resistant and stays together over a very wide humidity range.

It ain't gonna be cheap- like building a guitar amp, alot of it is about the experience of doing it and the satisfaction of knowing you made it. You also get to do things like build a removeable panel into the back to easily convert from closed to semi-open back(like I did)

One of the big things cab makers do is to use a jig to make finger joints to join the box pieces together. Makes an unbelievable connection. I don't know if you want to get that into it- it takes a lot of practice, a special tool for your table saw, blah, blah... I never have.

Here's a couple links:

Mojo parts

ruby tubes/magic parts

Good luck, have fun.
