Hey, I'm fairly new to recording, but I'm currently running a studio in the basement of a guitar shop. I hope to build a studio in the semi-near future and was looking for some general guide-lines to use as far as placement, sound proofing, structure, isolation booths, materials, and that kinda stuff goes. Any information would help, Thanks

There's a lot of good stuff at Sayers.

In general for isolation, it's a combination of 3 things:

- Physically isolate/decouple the room from the surrounding structure
- Massive walls/ceiling with fully insulated cavities
- Plug all the air leaks including lights, outlets, switches, etc. If you can use surface mount, all the better (or build them into soffits/columns that are done AFTER the room is drywalled)
