An even less expensive alternative is to purchase a 19" aluminum relay rack with the appropriate threaded holes, cut it up, and mount it in between 2x4's. Its certainly not as nice as a welded rack but with moulding and painting, it can be done well. Here is some of the photos of my racks, in progress.

There is nothing wrong with that.

However :)

I learned over the years that the holes you drill into the studs over time wear out if you load/unload your rack somewhat often, such as if you sell some gear, buy new gear, etc.

MAP and Raxxax both make somewhat inexpensive rack rails that you can bolt to your studs and use machine screws. I chose to cut up an old computer rack, but you can buy rails nowadays fairly inexpensively. Especially used!
