Anyone know any quality AND budget overhead microphones? (preferably in pairs)

Any help is much appreciated.

I was considering either the AKG C 430 Microphone Twin Pack or the MXL 993 Condenser Mics Stereo Pair. Both seem to have gotten decent reviews considering their price range, but by all means, tell me what you guys think of these mics.

Thanks in advance!

mxl 603s are great bang for the buck oh. havnt tried their new sdc line but the 603s whip ass on oh, hat, snare, and acoustic instruments

DON'T BUY THEM AT GUITAR CENTER!!! THEY ARE FAKE CHINEESE KNOCKOFFS!!

to be safe, make sure it says MK-012 on it. NOT MC-012 Ebay it... You'll pay more than at guitar center, but hey.. .they're real.

This whole Oktava thing is unsettling. A pair of SP B1s would be a very healthy investment for little money.

I got a matched pair of Rode NT5s. They are a little dark but I prefer that than overly bright. Also maybe you you should look into the Studio Projects C4s.

If you like a little darker sound try a pair of Kel Audio HM-1s, I love them for overheads. Tames the over brightness of most cymbals and picks up the toms excellently. I actually prefer them to my Oktava MK012s.

C4's- best in the money ballpark, easily, and very versatile with switchable patterns.... dont argue bitches, tis true.... damned DAMNED good deal for the cake...
