I think it's already to late. I can't believe on how stuck the piece was in the guitar. It must have really crossed threaded.

A bit off topic, I 've got a "Super-vee" setup on one of my Strats and it is incredible...in that it never goes out of tune, adjustable saddles etc. IF>> IF you can get by the look of the nut, this thing smokes a Floyd.

I never liked wammy bars. Of my 15 guitars only one has a wammybar and it stays in the case.

I say replace the block. Cheap. You can prob get better/higher quality by a full replacement. Screw the unscrewing. Just buy a new one. Maybe cheaper than the tools to do it yourself.

I wish I could just buy a new one but I can't find one. I'll ask the guy I bought it from and see what he says.
