Okay, well I didn't break the Crybaby...the very tip of a 1/4" cable came off inside the 'Amplifier' output socket and got stuck there. Be wary of cheap cables!

Anyways, the only way I could get it out was to open the case and pry back one of the three metal bands that bear down on the inserted jack. Surprise, surprise...I'm having connection issues.

I've tried re-opening it and bending the metal connector so it sits like it's supposed to but it's pretty ropey...has anyone else experienced this or can you suggest another fix? I really like the Crybaby.

Replace the socket - SHOULD BE - pretty straight forward.
Did you go wah?

I have zero expertise. Wouldn't know WHERE to begin! Or about parts...hmmm.

Yah I cried a bit.

I think this is what you want:

Not positive though without opening up my pedal. I'd give them an email telling them what you need and they'll make sure you get thr right part. You will need to use a soldering iron, or at least find someone who does.

Wow man that's the exact part I'm looking for! Thanks! I wonder would removing the old one and installing this be tough? I imagine it fits to the circuit board right?

That's gonna be a drag if you don't have a lot of experience with desoldering/soldering. That type will be soldered directly on a little board.

Assuming you already have a soldering iron and solder... Go to RatShack and get a desoldering tool - it's sort of a syringe in reverse. One at a time - You heat the pin/solder on the back side of the board and suck the molten solder off with the tool. Repeat until done. That's the hard part.

The easy part of putting the new socket in place. Just be careful not to overheat anything!

Good luck :)

Like I said, I'm not sure if thats an exact fit or not. It looks like it would line up, but I can't tell for sure. I'm pretty sure Smallbear would be able to give you a definite answer. Removal and installation are about as easy as it gets. Unscrew the jack from the housing, remove the PC board and desolder/resolder. Just be careful with the iron. The tracings on the Crybaby board are paper thin and easy to destroy.

Replacing a jack socket isn't too hard. Just remember how the old one sits on the PCB before you take it off. I've had to do it tonnes of times and I'm shit with that kind of thing.
