broadcast audio

Hi all,

I was not sure where to post this, but do you any of you know where to find information (links, articles?) about audio broadcasting for radio?

A radio station over here has a vacancy for radio technician but I'm not sure if, as an educated music engineer, there is lots of difference between broadcasting and their equipment, and music recording/mixing.

lots to learn

although the music theory will help, there is a lot more to the "radio" side of the stuff.

The biggest thing you will have to add is RF (Radio Frequency) theory and knowledge. I'm talking hi-power transmitter maintenacne, most are solid state now, but there are still a bunch of tubes floating around out there.

then you have to learn about feed line (coaxial) systems, impedence balancers etc.

then antenna systems directional vs omni. frequency matching. grounding.

then, how to keep the damn RF out of all the audio gear.

talk about a head ache. try and keep a clean signal in a room with a 1Kw transmitter and a bad ground. RF is everywere...even in the light bulbs.

it's fun though.

Find someone who is a ham radio operator to get you started on the RF stuff if you are really interested
