The Aslin Dane Bohemian, a cheap Chinese knockoff of Brian May's handmade guitar.

-Mahogany Body
-Set in Mahogany neck
-3 Humbucking Pickups
-On/off and coil tap switches for each pickup
-Twin-Pivot tremolo

Anybody got (or played) one of these?

It's only $299 with free shipping...

Sure, it doesn't have the Burns TriSonics and it's not exactly a faithful replica, but it looks close enough for a po' guy like me! :)

Opinions?

The version with the cream P-90's looks pretty sweet to my eyes...

The first link to the guitar at Adirondackguitar.com no worky though... maybe they're sold out already?

Does it come with a sixpence to use as a pick? I know that they did at some point. :D

Those look nice. Not quite exact, but maybe that's good. Except I don't really like the black pickguards on those colors. But hey...

A Brian May guitar would be my ideal instrument (I'm not really a Queen fan or anything, I just like the fact that it's custom-designed by the musician and it looks pretty good to me):

double-octave neck
whammy-bar without the locking nut (hate 'em, would rather have locking tuners)
coil-tap humbuckers with all kindsa switching.

Now, the real Brian May guitar has cavities in it to assist amplified feedback. What about those copies? :)

Also, I'd want mine customized, too:

no position markers, except 5th and 12th, 17th and 24th frets.
scalloped fretboard above 12th fret.

But not because I can shred (I can't yet), just because I think it'd be nice to have :)

P.S. There's a facinating article on Wikipedia about the original Brian May guitar:

Actually, I never looked into this before, but after reading the Wikipedia article learned that Brian May has his own guitar company and you can buy his real signature guitar with all the desirable features for $800 online.

That, to me, is the ultimate "shame-on-you-Fender-and-Gibson-with-your-$1k+ instruments-one-still-needs-to-customize-but-it-will-void-the-warranty-and-get-you-snobbed-by-purists" guitar!

Sure, there's different sounds between Strats, Les Pauls, etc. (and I may like them), but I really respect Brian for not charging $2500 for his guitars, which he could easily do.

Yep, it's made in Korea, but looks fabulous!!

If I could afford one, I'd grab it.

But when you're married (with kids and lots of bills to pay) the cheaper versions are more doable.
