I built a couple of cabinets and loaded them with Eminence speakers. I've read that the speakers don't sound their best until they've been broken in with several hours of playing.

I was thinking of connecting the cabs to a home stereo and letting it run for 6-8 hours at moderate volume, not real loud, but loud enough to get the paper moving pretty good.

Anyone ever done something similar?

Did that with my home theatre speakers. Let it play while I was at work for a couple days at moderate volume.

Depending on who you talk to speaker breakin happens in about 30 seconds or takes a hundred hours or so.

or as i believe it's total bullshit... there's nothing to break in... the only physical contacts are the surround and the spider...your going to break in an air gap??? or a freefloating coil of wire???
