Brazilian Country/Folk song.

Hey, guys!

This song is a project of a friend of mine and was completely recorded in my house.

The drums were recorded using 4 mics, and it is not a HUGE part of the song. I've played the drums and bass on this song.

I've tried to sound a little bit like Ringo on the drums...especially covering the snare with a towel. Thought it sounded kinda cool, at least when we perform it together.

So, here is my mix. Please, if it sounds horrible, tell me.

Sounds good. The drums get busy and out of time right before the vocals. I think the guitar solo in the right channel is too far forward -- the bass is, too. Most of the mix is right up front. Using reverb and levels to mix front to back as well as right to left would help.

What did the bass have to do with lip syncing?

Was the camera person drunk? During the piano solo, taking shots of anything but the piano. Toward the end a close up of the singer's chest.

What's your song got to do with the OP's request for mix comments?

Actually it doesn't sound bad.

I find the solo panned to the right is a bit distracting, but I suppose that is personal preference. It would not be so strange if the main guitar track was played twice to give the mix a stereo image, but again, that would be my preference. Not necessarily yours.

I like the song. You definitely got the towel/Ringo thing going on there.

Yeah, it sounds a bit Ringo-ish to me, too. But maybe a touch too compressed? Also, I find the space/verb on the sax weird, because in the video it's playing nestled right in there with the band, but in the mix it's got all this space on it. It would be better without the video disjunct.


But again, shouldn't it be its own thread?

Should what be in its own thread? Obi-Wan is not the OP. He should start a new one himself.

Sharing some Brazilian music. The band could not play along to the studio recording, so the person who made the video just taped us playing live and went with that style of cutting.

Please post a video that you've produced so that I can see its excellence. Thanks. ;)

Did you read my post? I commented on his recording constructively and then added a sentence and a link to some related music I had done.

I mean, like this snarky conversation has anything to do with it. OP had ZERO responses and I said hello and shared some Brazilian music. If I wanted to be insulted, I'd go back to The Cave circa mid 2000's. And the music did have its own thread some time ago:
